At Drawbridge labs we envision a hub that will take the global CGI community to a new level of creativity, efficiency, and collaboration.
We take care of the infrastructural minutiae that today waste everybody’s time, money and effort, impeding their creative vision and ambition.
We provide asset management, production management, and cloud-based infrastructure and tooling at a level that is currently available only to the likes of Disney or Pixar. Our platform solves problems of growth and scale that newer and smaller studios haven’t encountered yet — and as they develop and grow they won’t ever need to know that in the old days those were problems.
We provide an unprecedented remote collaboration experience allowing artists to work from home anywhere in the world while still feeling that they are working side-by-side with their colleagues.
All this is available flexibly for individuals, informal collaborations, or commercial studios of any size. Artists can freely switch between working on their own machines and working entirely on applications streamed from the cloud. Studios can be entirely virtual with no need to buy hardware or rent physical space.
Furthermore, we lean into open source and sharing. The community has long had an ethos of sharing and mutual benefit — and now they finally have a platform allowing them to really do it. With Drawbridge artists can browse, share, and contribute to each other’s assets, workflows and projects. And as the community hub, it helps like-minded artists find each other, whether for collegiality, group projects, or professional jobs.
And from a financial perspective, Drawbridge will revolutionize the content creation industry. Current realities mean that starting a high-end studio requires initial investment of several 10s of millions of dollars to build out the hardware and software infrastructure – and if you have the infrastructure, the running costs are abominable. This is a huge barrier that keeps most everyone out of the game. But Drawbridge can provide studios the necessary technology without any upfront investment, at a fraction of the cost, with a pay-as-you-go model. This opens up new financing models such as raise-as-you-go and new business models such as pop-up studios. Most importantly this makes it possible for artists and studios to take creative risks without incurring large financial risks.
Putting it all together Drawbridge will usher in a new era of creativity and an explosion of new content.
